West Glen Attracts Medical Spa to the Main Street Village

West Des Moines, Iowa (May 24, 2005) — Developers of West Glen announced today they have signed a lease with Spas de Cor, LLC to open a full-service luxury day spa in conjunction with medical spa treatments in the Town Center East building in the development’s Main Street Village. The opening is planned for December 2005.The Spa at West Glen will transform 3,800 square feet at the north end of the Town Center East building into a full-service day and medical spa. Medical spa treatments will be performed under the ownership and medical supervision of Brenton B. Koch M.D., Des Moines’ leading facial plastic surgeon. 

“The Spa at West Glen will be the ultimate choice for those who want to relax, refresh and rejuvenate in soothing serenity,” Koch says. “Much more than a day spa, it will offer a menu of pampering as well as medical spa treatments that you can’t get anywhere else in the metro.”

The Spa’s natural beauty treatments encompass facials, peels, massages, body scrubs and wraps, manicures and pedicures, hand and feet treatments, waxing and makeup consultations. The medical treatments include microdermabrasion, medical-grade peels, line and wrinkle treatments, skin repair and laser hair removal. All medical spa treatments must be overseen by a medical doctor.

“The Spa sets the stage for the salon and fashion district within the Main Street Village,” noted William A. Van Orsdel, lead developer and investor for West Glen. “The medical spa is a relatively new concept for Des Moines, but it’s one that we believe will add to the cachet and appeal of our project.”

The 75-acre project integrates retail, entertainment, office, residential and community performance venues into one high-density mixed-use location that just happens to be at the vortex of Iowa’s fastest growing, most affluent city—West Des Moines. Located at the intersection of I-35 and Mills Civic Parkway, West Glen is the front door to a host of new developments and attractions, including Jordan Creek Town Center and the massive Wells Fargo business complex now under construction. 

West Glen lies in the middle of the growth area west of Interstate 35 and south of Interstate 80 that the city of West Des Moines designated as a “Town Center” overlay district. Super Target anchors the east side of the development and Josephs Jewelers will open its new retail showroom and corporate headquarters this summer. Sarto and Wireless Universe are already open. Schaffer’s Bridal will begin construction later this year and Drury Inn plans to build a 175-room hotel.  Developers plan to make additional announcements in June including tenants for the Avenue of the Arts buildings now under construction.
